Katie Garcia's Student-Athlete Profile

Former Toro standout outfielder Katie Garcia returns for her 13th season as assistant coach for her alma mater. In addition to coaching from the first base line, Garcia works with the outfielders.

Garcia served as interim head coach during the 2018 fall semester until her former coach Jim Maier returned to the helm for the 2019 campaign. In addition to playing for Maier from 2007-10, Garcia was his assistant coach from 2011-13. Between her time on the field as a player and as an assistant coach under Maier, Garcia has helped the Toros compile a 319-200 record and qualify for four NCAA Regional appearances, including a Super Regional contention in 2012. The Toros also won the CCAA championship that year.

In a decade of coaching the Toros, Garcia has produced two All-Americans, 10 all-regions, 23 All-CCAAs.

The Riverside native herself was a four-time All-CCAA selection, claiming two first-team, a second-team and a third-team honor for both her offensive ability and defensive prowess.  She holds four Toro records that include marks for at-bats and hit by pitch in a single season, and doubles and hit by pitch in a career.

Additionally, she sits in the Top-5 all-time Toros records in runs, triples, total bases, games started, at-bats, hits, walks, games played, intentional walks, and RBI. She is also seventh in on-base percentage and 10th in slugging percentage for a career.

A career .310 hitter, she slugged 7 home runs and drove in 69 runners in her four years, ending with a stellar senior campaign in which she either tied or exceeded all but four previous year totals.

Garcia received her Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology from CSUDH in May 2011, and her Master's Degree in Education in May 2013, also from CSUDH.
