2009: Started in all 56-games in the shortstop position ... Turned 27 double plays and committed only 15 errors in 241 chances for a .938 fielding percentage ... Saw 37 games batting in the nine-hole, in which the team went 25-12 ... Tallied 10 multiple hit games and one 3-hit game against Vanguard University (2/3/09) ... Longest hitting streak was eight games, ending the season on a four-hit streak.

College of the Canyons: Played as a cougar for Coach Cota for two years … In 2008 helped lead the cougars to take first-place in the Western State Conference League … Career highs include a batting average of .320 and 8 home runs.

Crespi HS: Lettered in baseball under Coach Muckery for four years … In 2003 he led the Celts to a CIF-Championship title … Was also awarded 1st- Team All- ML.

Personal: Born October 18, 1987 in Burbank, CA … Son of Dean and Sylvia Benavidez … Chose CSUDH for its baseball program ... Also recruited by Cal State L.A., Fresno State, and Mesa State (Colo) … Greatest athletic thrill was winning a CIF-Championship title … The person he would most like to meet is Ozzie Smith … Most admires is father … In high school played on the Junior USA team in the Dominican Republic … Favorites include movie “Man on Fire” and T.V. show “House” … When he is not playing baseball he enjoys wake boarding ...
