Biography

2010:  Named an ABCA National Gold Glove winner while compiling a .983 fielding percentage, starting all 61 games at second base ...  Named All-West Region 1st-team by Daktronics/NCAA and 2nd-team All-Region by both NCBWA and Rawlings/ABCA ... Named to the All-CCAA 1st-Team for the second year in a row ... Led the team in runs (56), triples (4), assists (180), tied for first in walks (28) and starts (61), and second on the team in ABs (236) and stolen bases (13) ... Enjoyed a 12-game hitting streak from Feb. 19 to March 7 ... Reached base safely in 23 straight games from Feb. 11 to March 19 ... Went 4-for-4 against CSUS on May 1 ... Scored four runs during the opening game of the West Region on May 13 against Chico State.

2009: Named an Honorable Mention NCAA/Daktronics All-American and HM NCBWA All-American while starting all 57 of the Toros’ contests at 2nd base ... Named to the NCBWA, NCAA/Daktronics and ABCA/Rawlings West Region 1st-teams ... Named to the All-CCAA Conference 1st-team ... Led team in at-bats (241, a new CSUDH single-season record), stolen bases (30) and runs scored (68), and second in hits (95) and BA (.394) ... Belted at least one hit in all but six games ... Went 4-for-4 at the plate twice ... Had five games with 4+ hits ... Helped turn 32 double plays and tallied 146 assists with 145 put-outs.

2008: One of only two freshmen to become a regular fixture in the starting nine, Leyva saw action in 39 games withi 36 starts ... Of the starters, posted the lowest number of strikeouts in the season with 11 ... Recorded second highest number of assists (84) while involved in 18 double plays ... Went for both a triple and double against UC San Diego to record his highest number of RBIs (3) ... Completed the most number of assists in a single game with seven.
