Lexie Jimenez connected for her second goal of the game into the upper V with just 47 seconds left in regulation to push Cal State Dominguez Hills to a thrilling 2-1 win over visiting Northwest Nazarene in a morning match-up at Toro Stadium to send three seniors out with a win on Senior Day.
The win snaps a two-game skid and moves the Toros to a 2-2 overall mark to begin the 2026 season.
CSUDH was outshot by three in each half (15-9 overall), but its offense forced the Nighthawks to make three saves compared to just two for the hosts.
Jimenez began the scoring with an unassisted score at the 18:17 mark to snap the team's one-game skid without a goal, only to have NNU equalize at 39:05 to take a 1-1 tie into the half.
That's where the score looked to remain until the final minute of the match when
Alexis Delgado fed Jimenez, who blasted her shot past NNU keeper Alex Barrass' left and into the net to set off a raucous celebration on the Toro sidelines and in the stands.
Jimenez and
Cynthia Ramirez each took three shots, with two each on goal to lead the offense. The defense, after allowing the first half score, kept the Nighthawks off the board over the final 50 minutes.
Prior to the match, CSUDH honored three seniors playing in their final season in Cardinal and Gold in Ramirez,
Leilani Fortuna-Ramos and
Isabella Ramirez.Â
The Toros will kick off CCAA play on Friday, September 18, taking on UC Merced in Merced for a 5 pm first kick.
