CARSON -- After dropping the opening game of this weekend's four-game series hosting Cal State San Bernardino, Cal State Dominguez Hills scored six runs early in the nightcap to take a 7-2 win to salvage today's twinbill.
Ashley Goodale went 2-for-3 in the win, driving in three runs to move the Toros to 23-14 overall and 5-9 in CCAA play.
After a scoreless first inning in game two, the Toros exploded for six runs in the second inning. After the first two runners got on base via walk and single,
Dyoni Garcia began the scoring with an RBI single up the middle. Â
An RBI fielder's choice one batter later made it 2-0, before
Makayla Bishop drew a bases-loaded walk for the third run of the frame.
Goodale then stroked a 2RBI single for a 5-0 lead before
Marisa Dominguez concluded the surge with an RBI groundout.
Goodale then added her third ribbie two innings later for a 7-0 lead before the Coyotes pushed across single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to account for the final scoring.
Nadia Juarez picked up the win to go 10-5 on the year, pitching 5.2 innings with just one earned run allowed.
In the opener, the Toros spotted the Yotes a 5-0 lead after half an inning, but answered with four runs in the bottom half of the second inning courtesy of a Bishop RBI single, CSUSB error, RBI groundout and sacrifice fly.
CSUSB, however, added four late runs to put the game away.
Garcia and
Gaby Gandara poked two hits each in the loss.
The two teams conclude their four-game series tomorrow, with game one set for a 12 noon first pitch.
