Toros Battle to the End in CCAA Tournament

LOS ANGELES, Calif,. – In a postseason showdown full of grit, passion, and a little extra baseball, the No. 2 seeded Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team fell just short in a 5-4 extra-inning loss to No. 4 seed Chico State Thursday night at Reeder Field, ending their run in the CCAA Tournament.

After falling to No. 3 seed San Francisco State in Game 1 earlier in the day, the Toros came out swinging in the nightcap. Dylan Schumacher opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first and later launched a two-run homer in the sixth to give CSUDH a 4-1 lead. However, the Wildcats responded with three runs across the sixth and seventh innings, and after both teams traded zeroes through the ninth, Chico walked it off in the 10th.

Despite the tournament exit, the 2025 campaign was packed with highlights. The Toros finish with a 29-22 overall record and earned the No. 2 seed in the CCAA Tournament after going 24-12 in conference play. Nine players were named to the All-CCAA teams, and junior ace Justin Abercrombie became the program's first CCAA Pitcher of the Year since 2006, leading the league in wins, WHIP, and opponent batting average.
