Toros Drop Series Finale but Look Ahead to Cal Poly Pomona

SAN FRANCISCO – The Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team was unable to generate offense in the series finale against San Francisco State, falling 10-0 on Sunday afternoon at Maloney Field. Despite the loss, the Toros still leave the Bay Area with a series split, finishing the weekend 12-9 overall and 8-4 in CCAA play.

Dominguez Hills found itself in an early deficit after the Gators plated two runs in the second and added another in the third. A three-run fourth inning put the game further out of reach, as the Toros struggled to string together hits against a strong opposing pitching performance.

Offensively, Teige Barrett and Dalton Cram each recorded a hit, with Barrett collecting a single in the fifth and Cram adding another in the eighth. Jacob Pfitzner also reached base, but the Toros were unable to capitalize on their limited scoring opportunities.

On the mound, Evan Vazquez (1-2) made the start, going 3.2 innings while allowing six runs on eight hits with three strikeouts. Chris Cornelius provided two innings of relief, surrendering just one run while striking out two. Dylan Singh and Aiden Taylor also contributed out of the bullpen, combining for 2.1 innings and five strikeouts.

Despite the setback, Dominguez Hills remains in a strong position in the CCAA standings as they prepare for another key conference matchup. The Toros will hit the road once again to face Cal Poly Pomona in a four-game series beginning Friday, March 14, at 3 p.m..
