CARSON, Calif. – Despite a tough 15-4 loss in the series finale, Cal State Dominguez Hills secured a 3-1 series victory over Stanislaus State to improve to 9-7 overall and 6-2 in CCAA play. The Toros battled early but were unable to keep pace as the Warriors pulled away in the later innings.
Stanislaus State struck early, scoring in the first two innings before the Toros responded in the third. Jared Anderson doubled to drive in Trey Winget, and Quinn Johnson followed with a sacrifice fly to bring Anderson home, tying the game at 2-2. After the Warriors regained the lead in the fourth, Nigel Buckley delivered an RBI single in the bottom half to keep the Toros within striking distance.
Trailing 5-3 in the seventh, Dominguez Hills looked to mount a comeback, but a five-run outburst from the Warriors proved to be the turning point. The Toros added their final run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Dylan Schumacher, but Stanislaus State continued to add runs, sealing the game with a three-run ninth.
Anderson led the Toros offensively, going 2-for-3 with a double, RBI, and a run scored, while Winget also recorded a 2-for-4 performance with a double and a run scored. Buckley finished with two hits and an RBI, and Teige Barrett contributed with a double and a run.
On the mound, Evan Vazquez (1-1) took the loss after allowing four runs over four innings. Brian Kraft, Chris Cornelius, Joel Gaitan, and Dillon Singh provided relief appearances, but the Warriors' offense stayed hot throughout the game.
