HAYWARD, Calif. – The No. 5 Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team wrapped up the regular season in dominant fashion, defeating Cal State East Bay to finish 29-1 overall and 21-1 in CCAA play. With the win, the Toros solidified their spot as the CCAA regular-season champions and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CCAA Tournament, earning a first-round bye.
The Toros, who lead the conference in both offense and defense, showcased their dominance on both ends of the floor. CSUDH jumped out to an early lead, using their high-pressure defense to force turnovers and push the tempo in transition. By halftime, the Toros had built a commanding lead and never looked back.
Nala Williams, the CCAA's leading scorer at 18.0 points per game, once again led the way, impacting the game in multiple areas with her scoring, playmaking, and defensive intensity. Asia Jordan, ranked third in the conference in field goal percentage at 56%, controlled the paint, while Teagan Thurman (No. 9 in rebounding) and Jordan (No. 12 in rebounding) secured the glass.
Williams also continued to showcase why she ranks first in the CCAA in assists and steals, while Kya Pearson, who sits fourth in steals, added key defensive stops throughout the game. Williams' shooting touch was also on display, as she remains second in the conference in 3-point field goal percentage (40%).
With the victory, the Toros completed one of the best regular seasons in program history, marking their second CCAA regular-season title in three years after previously winning in 2022-23.
Now, CSUDH turns its focus to the CCAA Tournament, hosted by Cal State San Marcos from March 6-8. The Toros will have a first-round bye and will open play in the semifinals, looking to add a tournament championship to their historic season.
