Box Score AZUSA, Calif. – Cal State Dominguez Hills claimed a four-set victory over Azusa Pacific on Friday afternoon, winning 3-1 (25-16, 19-25, 25-11, 25-23) in a non-conference matchup.
The Toros started the match strong, hitting .222 in the first set with 14 kills to secure a convincing 25-16 win, while limiting Azusa Pacific to a negative hitting percentage (-.053) with eight errors.
Azusa Pacific bounced back in the second set, hitting .245 with 18 kills to take a 25-19 victory and even the match. However, Cal State Dominguez Hills dominated the third set, posting an impressive .611 hitting percentage with 12 kills and just one error to cruise to a 25-11 win.
In the fourth set, the Toros battled through a tightly contested game to pull off a 25-23 victory, clinching the match. Despite Azusa Pacific's efforts, Cal State Dominguez Hills' efficient attack proved too much, finishing the match with 50 kills and a .232 hitting percentage, compared to Azusa Pacific's .113.
Senior Kayly Pau led the offensive charge with 13 kills and 4 blocks, while junior Maria Bejines-Garibay added 12 kills and 10 digs for a double-double. Ava Hurry contributed 11 kills, 3 blocks, and 10 digs in an all-around performance.
Setter Bailey Fuches directed the offense with 28 assists and 2 aces, while libero Nina Robles was a defensive force with a match-high 26 digs and 2 aces. Aleya Starnes was a standout at the net with a team-high 7 blocks.

The Toros were led by standout performances on both sides of the ball and will look to continue their momentum in their next matchup tomorrow against Ursline College at 11:30am and Concordia Univserity Irvine at 7pm.
