ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – In a display of burgeoning talent and determination, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros track and field team showcased their skills in a series of events at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, marking their presence with notable performances across various disciplines.
In the Women's 60-meter Dash, sophomore
Leloni Ervin led the charge for Cal State Dominguez Hills, finishing with a time of 8.33 seconds. She was closely followed by freshman
Melandy Davis, who clocked in at 8.44 seconds, and
Alyssa Renwick, another freshman, who completed the race in 8.59 seconds.
Kaila Jenkins, also a sophomore, rounded out the team's effort with a time of 9.61 seconds.
The 200-meter Dash saw another set of spirited performances from the team. Sophomore
Teloni Ervin posted a time of 27.34 seconds, while
Leloni Ervin, in her second event of the day, finished with a time of 27.48 seconds.
Chantel Palmer, also a sophomore, completed the event in 34.24 seconds, demonstrating the depth and versatility of the team's sprinters.
In the 400-meter Dash, freshman
Christine Duarte led the way for the Toros with a time of 1:05.18, showcasing her potential in the quarter-mile event.
Hanna Espinoza, another freshman, followed with a time of 1:12.39, adding valuable experience to her collegiate career.
The Shot Put event featured strong performances in the field segment of the meet. Sophomore Fallon Forman threw a distance of 8.43 meters (27 feet 8 inches), leading her teammates in Flight 1 of the competition. Senior
Katrina Witbeck followed with a throw of 5.72 meters (18 feet 9.25 inches), and freshman
Camille Brown made her mark with a throw of 4.15 meters (13 feet 7.5 inches).
