CARSON – The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros force an early end as they sweep the Adepli University Panthers, 2-0.
GAME ONE
The opening game set the stage for an intense day of softball as the Toros overcame an early deficit to clinch a 7-5 victory against the Panthers. Adelphi jumped ahead in the first inning as they took the lead to 2-0.
The Toros responded in the fourth inning, unleashing their offensive firepower.
Kaylee Hull double to left center brought in two runs, tying the game at 2-2. Momentum continued to build for the Toros as
Alani Nguyen hit a homer to right center, bringing in three more runs, and
Mariah Ramirez homer added another two runs to the Toros' tally, extending their lead to 7-2.
Adelphi attempted a comeback in the later innings to close the gap to 7-5. It would not be enough as the Toros took their first win, 7-5.
GAME TWO
The second game saw the Toros in full control from the outset, leading to a commanding 14-2 victory over the Panthers.
Mariah Ramirez set the tone early with a three-run homer in the first inning. Despite a brief response from Adelphi in the second inning, The Toros took the game beyond reach in the third inning with a series of hits that extended their lead to 9-1, highlighted by
Kaylee Hull's three-run homer and
Gaby Gandara's triple that capitalized on an Adelphi error.
The Toros' relentless offense did not let up, continuing their assault in the fourth inning. HULL's single and
Mia Ayala's grand slam to center field skyrocketed the Toros' lead to 14-1. Adelphi managed to score once more in the fifth inning, but the game was well in hand for the Toros, ending with a 14-2 scoreline.
The Toros return to the Toro Field this Friday, February 16th as they take on Chico State with first pitch set for 12pm.
