CARSON, Calif. — Cal State Dominguez Hills capped off their season with a thrilling 1-0 victory over Cal State LA at Toro Stadium on Thursday. Taya Bohenko's early strike proved to be the game-winner, as the Toros' defense held strong to secure the shutout.
The decisive goal came just over a minute into the game when Alyssa Villalobos delivered a precise assist to Bohenko, who found the bottom corner of the net to put the Toros up 1-0. The goal marked Bohenko's first of the season and set the tone for a strong team performance.
Isabella Ramirez tested Cal State LA goalkeeper with a shot in the 3rd minute, but the Golden Eagles made a diving save to keep the margin at one. Lauryn Bailey added another close chance for the Toros in the 71st minute, with her shot saved at the bottom right corner.
The Toros' defense, led by goalkeeper Kylie Yuzon's three saves, held firm against 12 shots from Cal State LA. Yuzon's crucial stops in the 17th and 74th minutes preserved the lead and earned her third clean sheet of the season.
Cal State Dominguez Hills outperformed defensively, allowing zero goals despite Cal State LA's nine corner kicks. The win brought the Toros to a final season record of 5-6-6 overall and 3-3-5 in conference play.
