Toros' Season Ends in 1-4 Loss to Cal State LA in NCAA Second Round

LOS ANGELES, Calif.— Cal State Dominguez Hills' remarkable season came to a close on Sunday with a hard-fought 1-4 loss to #5-ranked Cal State LA in the NCAA Second Round at University Stadium. Despite the defeat, the #4-seeded Toros capped a historic campaign that included an undefeated run in conference play and their 11th CCAA championship.

The Toros found themselves trailing after Cal State LA opened the scoring in the 44th minute. The Golden Eagles extended their lead with two early second-half goals. Down a player following a red card in the 60th minute, CSUDH showed resilience, creating late chances and breaking through in the 87th minute when Jose Peredia scored off an assist from Kenny Lee.

Peredia led the Toros offensively with seven shots, including a close effort in the 19th minute that forced a save from Cal State LA goalkeeper. Logan Kaufman contributed two shots, with his best chance coming in the 37th minute when his strike narrowly cleared the crossbar. Mikey McKibbin also applied pressure, testing the Golden Eagles with a low shot in the 33rd minute.

Defensively, goalkeeper Arturo Magaña made three key saves, including a pivotal stop in the 55th minute that temporarily kept the Toros in the game. The backline, anchored by Ndifor Ginyui and Diego Barahona, worked diligently to counter the Golden Eagles' aggressive attack.

The Toros concluded the season with a stellar 11-5-5 overall record, highlighted by an undefeated conference campaign (7-0-5). This season further solidified CSUDH's legacy as one of the CCAA and NCAA Division II's premier soccer programs.

The Toros extend their heartfelt gratitude to the fans, students, and supporters who stood by them throughout this unforgettable season. Your energy and enthusiasm were instrumental in the team's success. We look forward to your continued support next season. Go Toros!
