Toros Earn 1-1 Draw Against Cal Poly Pomona

POMONA, Calif. — The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros secured a hard-fought 1-1 draw against the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos with Logan Kaufman providing the Toros' lone goal in the first half.

Kaufman put the Toros on the board in the 29th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error and slotting the ball into the bottom corner. It was Kaufman's first shot of the match, and he made it count, giving CSUDH an early lead. Mikey McKibbin also had two shots on goal, one in the 28th minute and another in the 67th minute, both saved by Cal Poly Pomona's goalkeeper.

The Toros held the 1-0 advantage going into halftime, with goalkeeper Arturo Magaña making several crucial saves, including back-to-back stops in the 20th and 21st minutes.

However, the game turned in the 55th minute when the Toros received a red card, forcing the Toros to play the remainder of the match with 10 men. Despite the disadvantage, the Toros continued to battle but ultimately conceded the equalizer in the 75th minute.

In total, the Broncos outshot the Toros 23-4, but CSUDH's defense remained solid, with Magaña finishing the match with four saves. The Toros registered four shots on target, led by Kaufman and McKibbin's efforts.

With the draw, Cal State Dominguez Hills moves to 5-4-4 overall and 2-0-4 in conference play. The Toros will return home to face Cal State San Marcos on Thursday, October 25th, at 7 p.m.
