No. 18 Otters Surge Late to Take 11-2 Win Over Toros to Begin CCAA Series

SEASIDE -- Cal State Dominguez Hills held No. 18 and host Cal State Monterey Bay to just one run over 4.0 innings of play, but the Otters erupted for 10 runs over the final four innings to take a runaway 11-2 win over the Toros to begin the CCAA series.

Aaron Greenfield, Vincent Temesvary (pictured), and Eddie Morales each knocked two hits in the loss.

The game was scoreless after 3.5 innings as Toro starter Zack Geiss allowed just one hit in three frames, wiggling out of a bases-loaded jam in the 3rd.

The Otters put up the first run in the their next at-bat, before tagging him for four runs in the 5th inning, ending his night after 5.0 innings of work and five runs allowed.

It didn't get any better for the Toro bullpen as the Otters scored single runs in the 6th and 7th innings before putting the game away with four in the 8th after the Toros got solo shots from both Temesvary and Eric Smelko for CSUDH's only runs of the game.

The two teams play two tomorrow, with first pitch of game one set for 12 noon at the Otter Sports Complex.
