LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros faced a tough matchup as they close the season against the Cal State LA Golden Eagles, ultimately falling 4-2.
In the first period, both teams showed their attacking intent, resulting in a thrilling opening half. The Toros managed to find the back of the net once, courtesy of a well-executed goal by
Jhoel Sarraude. In the 29th minute, Sarraude capitalized on a throw-in into the box. After the goalkeeper punched the ball out, Sarraude was quick to collect the loose ball and fired it into the empty net.
However, Cal State LA responded strongly, netting two goals of their own to take the lead as the first period concluded. The Toros knew they had their work cut out for them in the second half.
In the second period, the Toros continued to battle, showing resilience on the field. They added another goal to their tally in the 75th minute.
Logan Kaufman took a shot that was blocked, but
Jhoel Sarraude collected the rebound and fired it into the net crediting Kaufman with the assist.
Despite their efforts, Cal State LA managed to extend their lead by scoring two more goals in the second period. The Toros fought hard but were unable to close the gap, falling to the Golden Eagles, 4-2.
Logan Kaufman was an active presence in the midfield, taking a total of five shots during the 90-minute contest. He managed to put one of those shots on target and his involvement in the attack also resulted in an assist.
Jhoel Sarraude was undoubtedly the standout performer for the Toros in this match. Sarraude took an impressive seven shots, with five of them being on target. His clinical finishing skills were on full display as he netted two goals for the team, making a significant impact on the scoreboard.
Martin Velasquez contributed to the offensive efforts with three shots. One of his shots was on target, although he didn't find the back of the net in this particular match.
