Despite an attack error to start the first serve of the season, Dominguez Hills went on an 11-1 rally to build a commanding first-set lead.
The Toros opened the second round with a 7-2 run, with four of those points coming from Penguin attacking errors. Dominguez Hills then went on to score eight straight rallies to build an 11-point lead and a runaway win.
Dominican opened the third set scoring the first point on a service error, but Dominguez Hills went on to win six of the next eight serves to take a 6-3 lead. The Toros then went on a 6-1 run to take a 10-point lead.
The Toros return to The Kelp Bed Saturday to play two more matches starting with Michigan Tech at 9:30 a.m. followed by Academy of Art at 5 p.m.
