Six Toros Reach Double Figures in First Win of the Season

CARSON – With Thanksgiving just three days away, the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team got an early feast on the court Monday, from field goal percentage to rebounding to steals as the Toros routed Lincoln 91-61 for the first win of the returning season at the Torodome Monday night.
 
The hit a season-high 47 percent from the field, collected 43 rounds, tallied 21 assists and forced 21 steals.
 
Six Toros (1-3) reached double figures in the points column. Freshman Asia Jordan dropped in 16 points and went to the glass 11 times for her second double-double in three games. Kelsey Bell tallied 13 points to her name while Amaya Snowden, Auren Isaacson, Hosanna Walker and Rebecca Penner each had 10.
 
The Oaklanders, based out of Oakland and is in their first year with an athletic department, kept pace with the Toros. They tied the game a nine before the Toros went on a nine-point run midway into the opening quarter to take control of the game.
 
As Dominguez Hills outscored Lincoln 29-14 in the opening quarter, the Toros reached the 20-point mark in the second, winning the round 23-16 to build a 52-30 into intermission.
 
Although the Toros will get to enjoy a real Thanksgiving feast on Thursday, they will have a quick turnaround as they head to the Bay Area to open CCAA play at Cal State East Bay on Saturday. Tipoff is at 1 p.m.
