Box Score LOS ANGELES -- Cal State Dominguez Hills suffered a sweep at the hands of Cal State LA for the second-consecutive night, dropping a 25-19, 25-16, 25-15 decision.
Renee Wheeler (pictured, left) had six kills and one block for the Toros.
The hosts started quickly on Saturday and maintained their focus throughout the match, taking an early 7-3 lead in the opening set and pushing it to 10-5. The Toros, much like they did on Friday in Carson, battled back and took a 14-12 lead following a kill by
Nicole Peery. The set was tied for a final time at 18-18 before the Golden Eagles scored three straight points to take the lead for good.
CSUDH led set two early, only to see CSULA take the lead for good after a service error for a 10-9 lead before running it to 24-13, all but putting the frame away.
The Toros again maintained a lead in the third at 11-10 before a service error, two straight attack errors, a CSULA service ace and putaway gave them a 15-11 lead. An ensuing 6-0 run opened up the set at 22-13, with three CSULA kills ending the match.
The Toros return home next weekend as they host Cal State East Bay, with first serve set for 5 pm in the Torodome.
