CALIFORNIA – Twenty-nine student-athletes from the Cal State Dominguez Hills volleyball, men's and women's soccer teams make up a total of an impressive 478 to make-up the California Collegiate Athletic Association's (CCAA) Fall Honor Roll (formerly called All-Academic) for academic success in the fall semester, shattering the record by 127.
The CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll also includes men's and women's country, which Cal State Dominguez Hills does not sponsor.
Traditionally, in order to earn a spot on the CCAA Honor Roll, the student-athlete must:
- be of sophomore athletic standing or higher, and may include graduate students;
- own a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average or higher based on the most recently completed term at the time of the nomination;
- Have competed in a CCAA-sponsored sport in that season.
However, due to the CCAA Board of Presidents' tough decision to cancel the entire 2020-21 athletics season because of the coronavirus pandemic, the conference waived the third requirement to accommodate the newcomers who would have qualified.
The remaining CCAA-sponsored sports (men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, track & field, golf) will be recognized for their success in the classroom at the conclusion of the spring semester in May.
