ROHNERT PARK – Having already taken the four-game California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) series, the Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team missed out on the sweep as Sonoma State scored four runs in the third to beat the Toros 5-2 Sunday.
Despite the loss snapping the seven-game win streak, Dominguez Hills finishes the weekend at 12-10 overall and 11-5 in the CCAA.
Angel Estrada had three of the Toros eight hits, including a leadoff double in the seventh that eventually led to a run on
Jose Jimenez's sacrifice fly and cut the lead down to 4-2.
The Toros did strike first in the opening inning.
Pierson Loska hit a two-out single, took second on a passed ball and scored on
Nick Henry's double down the left field line.
Sonoma (7-14, 6-10 CCAA) broke away with the four-run inning, highlighted by Jake Hernandez's two-run single.
Nathan Ortiz made it through six innings, striking out four but gave up four earned runs on five hits and three walks.
Jack Miller also went six for the Seawolves, giving up one earned run, six hits and two walks.
Dominguez Hills returns home next weekend to host San Francisco State starting Friday at 3 p.m.
