Henry's 2-Homer, 7-RBI Night Leads Toros to Exploding Win

LOS ANGELES – The Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team's bats came alive on Saturday. Nick Henry had three of the Toros' 16 hits along with an impressive 7 RBI in their 13-0 stomping on crosstown rivals Cal State LA at Reeder Field.

Five of Henry's seven RBIs came from the long shot. He hit a two-run homer in the fourth and a three-run jack in the ninth. RBI No. 6 and 7 came from a single in the second and a sacrifice fly in the fifth.

Aaron Greenfield also had a productive day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a solo home run and touching home plate four times. Even though he officially went 1-for-2 at the plate, Pierson Loska had perhaps the best eye on the night after drawing four walks.

In addition to the hitting barrage, Dominguez Hills saw a stellar pitching performance from Dylan Steen, who threw 81 pitches in seven innings but only gave up one hit in seven innings. He also fanned seven and limited the Golden Eagles to one walk. Kodi Koorndyk went the rest of the way striking out five.

The Toros have now won five of their last seven to improve their overall record to 7-9 and 6-4 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Dominguez Hills eventual game-winning run came in the first inning. Greenfield reached on a fielder's choice and four straight walks forced in the run. The Toros scored three more runs in the second to provide breathing room. Nick Ade led off with a walk and Edward Manzo doubled down the right field line to setup two runners in scoring position, setting up for Greenfield's two-run single.

Garrett Boyce lasted four innings for the Golden Eagles (4-10, 3-7 CCAA), giving up seven runs on nine hits and seven walks. Cal State LA went on to use four different relievers the rest of the way.

The two teams move the series to Carson for the 9/7-inning doubleheader Sunday. First pitch is at 11 a.m.
