Toros Use Hot Start to Take Down Warriors, Qualify for CCAA Tournament

TURLOCK - The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team led by as much as 22 points in the first half, en route to a 75-61 win over Stanislaus State in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchup, Saturday at Fitzpatrick Arena. The Toros improve to 14-14 overall and 10-12 in conference play. The Warriors drop to 9-17 overall and 8-14 in the CCAA.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- The Toros started the game on a 9-0 run and never looked back. A layup from junior Ahlisha Henderson gave CSUDH a 21-13 lead at the end of the first 10 minutes.
- The Toros stretched the margin to as much as 22 points in the second quarter, 39-17, on senior Nautica Morrow's basket. CSUDH went into halftime with a 39-19 advantage, limiting the Warriors to just six points in the period.
- Stanislaus State responded in the third quarter and cut it to 12 points, 48-36, before the Toros made a small push and made 55-39 with 10 minutes to go.
- CSUDH pulled away and had a 21-point advantage, 71-50, with less than three minutes remaining and ultimately prevailed by 14.
 
TORO NOTES
- In the last six games, Zhane Carter is averaging 17 points per contest.
- Ahlisha Henderson recorded her 11th double-double of the season. She is averaging 15.6 points and 17.6 rebounds in the last three games.
 
PLAYOFFS
The Toros tie for fifth with Cal State East Bay in the final CCAA regular season standings. CSUDH will receive the fifth seed, holding the tiebreaker over the Pioneers, and will travel to Cal State San Marcos on Tuesday, March 5 for the first round of the CCAA Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
