CARSON – The Cal State Dominguez Hills volleyball team delivered a perfect Senior Night gift for
Mikayla Rogers and
Taylor Benitez-Fanslow on Saturday. After losing the first two sets, the Toros rallied from behind and beat San Francisco State (18-25, 20-25, 25-17, 25-20, 15-12) at the Torodome.
The Toros conclude the 2019 season going 14-10 overall, 7-10 in the CCAA to place fifth in what has been what has been perhaps the toughest South Division in the NCAA West Region. It is also the second time in three seasons the Toros had reached 14 wins.
Benitez-Fanslow, who has led the Toros offense all season long, showed her defensive side tonight with a career-high 23 digs, breaking the previous record of 19 set back in September. She also finished with a dozen kills and two full blocks.
Rogers, meanwhile, finished with six kills, four block assists and two digs.

While the Gators (16-10, 9-8 CCAA) had won the first two games, neither side had a double-digit lead.
Dominguez Hills turned the tide around right at the start of the third set, jumping to a 10-2 lead and not looking back. After trailing in the fourth set, the Toros would go on a 6-2 run to take a 12-11 lead. It would stay close until the end of the set, when Dominguez Hills won five of the last six serves to complete the comeback.
The deciding set was a tight battle up until the Toros scored three consecutive points to take a 11-9 lead. Dominguez Hills would go on to win four of the last five serves to seal the win.
