Toros Recover From Slow Start, but Edged by Gators Down the Stretch

CARSON - The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team fell to San Francisco State by a final score of 71-66 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchup, Thursday night at the Torodome. The Toros drop to 7-5 overall and 3-3 in conference play. The Gators improve to 6-7 overall and 5-3 in the CCAA.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- The Toros could only muster four points in the first quarter and trailed by nine, 13-4, at the end of the first 10 minutes.
- CSUDH responded with an 11-0 run, capped off by a Tylore Bell 3-pointer, to open the second period to take a 15-13 advantage with 5:24 left in the first half. SFSU pulled away right before the intermission and took a 25-20 lead into the locker rooms.
- The Toro offense came alive in the third quarter and put away 29 points, with 15 combined coming from Ahlisha Henderson and Tylore Bell, for a two-point advantage, 49-47, going into the final 10 minutes.
- Both teams went back-and-forth for much of the fourth quarter. With the score even at 62-62 with three minutes left, the Gators would go on a 6-0 run to ice the game. A 3-pointer from Zhane Carter cut it to two with just under a minute, but CSUDH couldn't get another basket.
 
TORO NOTES
- Nautica Morrow rewrote the school record for most steals in a game with 10. The previous mark was nine steals, shared by her and Taylor Farris.
- CSUDH's four points in the first period was the lowest output for a quarter this season.
