CARSON - The Cal State Dominguez Hills softball team concluded its 2018 campaign, Saturday at Toro Diamond. The Toros were swept by UC San Diego in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) doubleheader by scores of 7-1 in game one and 8-1 in the season finale.

CSUDH concludes it season with a 15-36 overall record and 11-28 in the CCAA. The Tritons finish their regular season 33-15 overall and 26-13 in conference play.

Game One - UCSD 7, CSUDH 1
The Tritons scored four runs out of the gate and the Toros could not recover and fell 7-1. UCSD scored two runs in the third and one in the sixth for a 7-0 lead combined with its four from the first.

In the bottom of the sixth, junior catcher Rachel Sandoval hit one over the center field wall for her fifth home run of the season and the only CSUDH score of the game. Valinches pitched all seven innings and struck out five.

Game Two - UCSD 8, CSUDH 1
CSUDH struggled in the first inning once again and dropped the season finale 8-1. UCSD scored five in the first, one in the fourth and two in the seventh.

The Toros scored in the bottom of the fourth as sophomore infielder
Kendelle Messersmith was walked, advanced to second on Corella's single and sophomore pitcher
Jade Loe drew four balls to load the bases. Junior
Lexi Madrid pinch ran for Messersmith and scored on junior infielder
Damari Simon's hit to right field.
