CARSON - The Cal State Dominguez Hills softball team lost both ends of a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) doubleheader to San Francisco State by final scores of 2-1 and 12-4 in five innings, Saturday at Toro Diamond.

The Toros drop to 9-16 overall and 7-13 in conference play. The Gators improve to 12-16 overall and 9-10 in the CCAA.

CSUDH will take a break from conference action next week at the Tournament of Champions presented by the Turlock Convention & Visitors Bureau and hosted by Stanislaus State. The Toros will play six games in three days starting with Hawai'i Pacific on Friday, March 23 at 9 a.m.

Game One - SFSU 2, CSUDH 1
The Toros outhit the Gators 6-3, but it wasn't enough and fell by a final score of 2-1.

Junior catcher
Rachael Sandoval had one hit and CSUDH's lone RBI. Junior infielder
Jazmin Guzman went 2-for-3 with one run. Senior pitcher
Alyssa Valinches (4-7) was credited with the loss, giving up one earned run with seven strikeouts.

The Toros struck in the bottom of the first as Guzman singled and took second on senior outfielder
Kayla Lock's bunt. Sandoval hit a single to right field to bring home Guzman to give CSUDH a 1-0 advantage.

SFSU got two in the top of the second to take the lead for good and account for the final score. The Toros could only muster one hit in the final five innings.

Game Two - SFSU 12, CSUDH 4 (5 innings)
Sandoval hit a three-run home run, but it wasn't enough as the Gators defeated the Toros 12-4.

Sophomore outfielder
Jessica Lane went 2-for-3. Sandoval had three RBI, while CSUDH's other RBI came from senior infielder
Alexis Pintado.

SFSU struck in the top of the first with nine runs. CSUDH was able to get one run across in the second inning as sophomore infielder
Kendelle Messersmith singled, freshman infielder
Chloe Wenger drew a walk and junior designated player
Renee Galindo singled to load the bases. Pintado was hit by a pitch to bring home Messersmith as the Toros trailed 9-1.

The Gators scored three in the top of the fifth to take a 12-1 lead. The Toros got three runs in the bottom of the fifth, but it wasn't enough as SFSU still had an eight-run differential to end the game in five innings. Pintado doubled and Lock singled to put runners at first and third. Sandoval then hit one over the left field fence for a three-run home run.
