CARSON - The Cal State Dominguez Hills softball team defeated Cal State San Bernardino by a final score of 4-3 in game two of a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) doubleheader to split the four-game series and the twin bill, Saturday at Toro Diamond. CSUSB narrowly won the first game 6-5.

The Toros are now 6-11 overall and 4-8 in conference action. The Coyotes are 10-7 overall and 5-7 in the CCAA.

CSUDH will travel to Cal State East Bay on March 2-3 for a four-game series.

Game 1 - CSUSB 6, CSUDH 5
The Toros had 11 hits, but left 10 on the basepaths and fell 6-5.

Senior outfielder
Kayla Lock had two hits, one run and one RBI. Junior catcher
Rachael Sandoval had one hit one run and two RBI. Junior infielder
Jazmin Guzman went a perfect 1-for-1 with three walks and two runs.

CSUSB scored first with one run in the top of the third. The Toros answered in the bottom of the inning with three runs to take a 3-1 lead. Guzman drew a walk and scored on Lock's double to the outfield. Lock took third on Sandoval's single and junior outfielder
Damari Simon drew four balls to load the bases. Senior outfielder
Doreen Corella singled to score Lock and freshman infielder
Chloe Wenger hit one up the middle to bring in Sandoval.

CSUSB got four runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to take a 6-3 advantage. CSUDH scored two in the bottom of the sixth to make it a one-run contest. Senior infielder
Alexis Pintado singled, Guzman drew a walk and Lock singled to juice the bases. Sandoval got an RBI walk and Simon hit one through the left side to get Guzman home.

The Toros could only muster one hit in the bottom of the seventh as the Coyotes prevailed.

Game 2 - CSUDH 4, CSUSB 3
CSUDH was able to fend-off a seventh-inning rally from CSUSB to win 4-3.

Simon went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run and one home run. Corella went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Simon got the Toros on the board with a solo homer to left field in the second inning. CSUDH got two more in the third to take a 3-0 lead. With two outs, Lock struck out swinging, but reached first on a passed ball and Sandoval reached on a fielding error. Simon then singled to bring home Lock and Corella hit one to left field to score Sandoval.

CSUSB got one in the top of the fourth to make it a 3-1 game. The Toros got an insurance run that would prove to be much needed at the end of the game in the bottom of the sixth. Corella drew a walk. Junior designated player
Renee Galindo doubled to get Corella home.

The Coyotes got two runs in the top of the seventh, but CSUDH was able to get the necessary outs to end the game.
