Kevin Lugo and
Jordan James each had three hits but the Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team fell to No. 7 UC San Diego 14-3 in the second of a four-game California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) series Friday.
The Toros (3-5, 0-2 CCAA) struck first in the opening inning when Lugo hit an RBI single through the right side. The lead did not last long as the Tritons (8-3, 4-2 CCAA) racked up all 14 of their runs within the first four innings.
Dominguez Hills got its second and third run in the ninth inning, when James and
Esteban Ortega hit RBI singles.
Last year's All-CCAA honorable mention Alex Eliopulos went a perfect 4-for-4 with two two-run homers.
The Toros collected 11 hits throughout the afternoon.
The series shifts to Toro Field Saturday in a twinbill. Game one starts at 11 a.m.
