Weber, Toros Can't Force Game 5 Against No. 16 Broncos

POMONA – The Cal State Dominguez Hills got a third-set win but No. 16 Cal Poly Pomona dominated the fourth set to beat the Toros (18-25, 18-25, 25-17, 13-25) at Kellogg Arena Saturday night to finish the road portion of the 2018 schedule.
 
The Toros fall to 9-14 overall, 4-11 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).

Tati Yandall – 17 kills, 8 digs, 2.5 total blocks
Marissa Weber – 12 digs, 2 kills, 2 service aces
Jordan Ramirez – 17 assists, 5 digs, 2 kills
 
WHAT HAPPENED?
- The Toros' third-set win was benefitted on a 12-1 momentum, including 10 straight with Kalani Patrick serving, that turned a two-point deficit to a 24-15 lead. The Toros got the game point on Tati Yandall's kill. Yandall had six kills and three digs in that round.
- Dominguez Hills finished the night with a .145 attack percentage while Pomona hit .338, including 13 kills each from Kristen Hamlin and Ally Wilder.
- The Toros couldn't match the Broncos 16 kills in the fourth game despite making six digs and one block. The Broncos built a 21-9 lead and went back-and-forth on the sideout to the set point.
 
MATCH NOTES
- With the loss, Cal State Dominguez Hills is officially eliminated from contention to the CCAA Championship, despite Cal State San Marcos, which holds the fourth and final spot in the South Division, was defeated at UC San Diego tonight.
- The Toros finish the road slate 2-7.
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Toros close out the regular season at home next weekend, beginning with the Tritons Friday followed by the Cougars Saturday. Both are 7 p.m. starts.
