SAN BERNARDINOÂ - The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team fell to Cal State San Bernardino in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play by a final score of 89-71, Saturday at Coussoulis Arena.

The Toros drop to 9-10 overall and 7-7 in conference games. The Coyotes improve to 7-11 overall and 5-9 in the CCAA.

Zhane Carter scored a season-high 23 points to lead CSUDH. She has now averaged 19.3 points per game in her last three contests. Heaven Holmes had 16 points and Nautica Morrow finished with 13 points, four rebounds, three assists and four steals.

The Coyotes took a 7-0 lead to start the game and never looked back. CSUSB took its largest lead of the quarter, 16-2, before the Toros went on a 11-4 run, capped off by a Holmes 3-pointer, to make it a seven-point game, 20-13. CSUDH trailed 25-16 after 10 minutes.

The Toros cut the margin to six points, 29-23, after a Holmes trey with 7:25 left in the first half. It would be the closest CSUDH would get as the Coyotes stretched their advantage to 15 points and went into halftime with a 45-30 lead.

CSUSB kept the onslaught going in the second half and opened the gap to as much as 26 points, twice, before ultimately prevailing by 18.

The Toros will host Chico State for their next contest on Friday, Jan. 26. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.Â
