LACEY, Wash. – The Cal State Dominguez Hills volleyball team claimed the first two sets but the PacWest's Notre Dame de Namur rallied from the deficit and took the match in five games (25-21, 25-12, 22-25, 21-25, 9-15) to open the annual D2 West Region Showcase hosted by the GNAC's Saint Martin's Thursday.
The Toros fall to 3-2 overall as they return to action Friday to face the GNAC's Montana State Billings at 10 a.m.
Tati Yandall earned another double-double with 13 kills and 23 digs. Yandall was one of four Toros to reach double figures in kills as
Cecelia Lucas led the effort with 14,
Claire Autry had a dozen and
Morelia Castro had 10.
Freshman
Lynda Nguyen stopped 17 attacks,
Hailey Smith made 16 saves and
Rylee Kiger had 10 digs to go along with 46 assists.
Senior
Bridget Heins had set a career-high with five service aces.
The Toros had dominated the second set, starting off with a 7-2 lead and never looking back. The Argonauts, meanwhile, never trailed in the fourth set and had taken a 6-2 lead in the deciding game en route to the match win.
