CHICO –
Rylee Kiger had 28 assists and made 10 digs for her fourth double-double of the season but the Cal State Dominguez Hills volleyball team came up short from forcing a deciding set in a 3-1 (19-25, 17-25, 25-21, 20-25) defeat to Chico State Saturday.
The offense had gone cold for the Toros (5-5, 1-1 CCAA) as they marked at .104 average on the attack throughout the night, nearly a century below the season average.
Tati Yandall had 10 kills and was the only player to reach double digits.
Lynda Nguyen led the effort on the back line with 14 digs.
The host Wildcats (7-5, 1-1 CCAA) posted a .182 attack percentage, with Makaela Keeve making 13 kills to pace the ballclub.
In the Toros lone set win, they set the tone by using a 9-1 point run to take a 20-15 lead. Five of those points during the momentum came from four different Toros on the attack. It was errors in the end of the set that benefited CSUDH as the Wildcats made eight.
After playing the first 10 matches on the road, CSUDH will finally open the home schedule with crosstown rivals Cal State LA visiting the Torodome Saturday at 7 p.m.
