Volleyball Preview: Experienced Toros Look to Make Another Postseason Trip

CARSON – After getting a taste of the first CCAA Volleyball Tournament experience in program history a year ago, Cal State Dominguez Hills will be looking to make another appearance in 2017.

The road back to the conference postseason begins Friday when the Toros visit Portland, Oregon to take part of Concordia's Labor Day Tournament starting with Western Oregon at noon followed by the host Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m.

It will be the first of two trips to the Pacific Northwest for the Toros. They will visit Lacey, Washington next weekend for the annual D2 West Region Volleyball Showcase hosted by Saint Martin's.

Jennifer Adeva's seventh version of the Toros returns 11 from last year, including seniors Claire Autry, Morella Castro and junior Cathryn Lopez. Autry was an All-CCAA honorable mention last year after leading the Toros in kills with 229 and owned a .189 attack percentage. Castro, meanwhile averaged 1.88 kills per set and finished second on the team in block assists (62). Lopez, who set the school's single season record for digs with 483 her freshman year, made 320 defensive saves to as a sophomore.
