Thompson Scores 20 in Final Game in Toro Uniform; CSUDH Falls to Coyotes

SAN BERNARDINO -- Simone Thompson scored 20 points in her final game as a member of the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team, but Cal State San Bernardino got the best of the Toros 73-65 in the regular-season finale Saturday night.

The Toros finish the 2016-17 season 7-20 overall, 4-16 in the CCAA.

Destinee Williams completed her rookie season as a collegiate student-athlete on a high note as she scored a career-high 17 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, resulting her first career double-double. Jocelyn Diaz, Lisa Rhett and Dijour Ledbetter both combined for 21 points and 17 boards.

It was all the starters that carried the Coyotes. Mya Johnson scored a game-most 22 points, Casie Johnson had 17 and Sabrea Coleman had 10. Both Johnsons had a double-double after a combined 23 rebounds.

Even though CSUDH out rebounded CSUSB and had a better shooting percentage, the Coyotes scored 29 points off 21 Toro turnovers.

The Toros had led for as long as 10:32 in the game. Their largest lead was six by the end of the first quarter.
