LA JOLLA -- The Cal State Dominguez Hills men's soccer team was eliminated in the semifinal round of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Tournament by Cal State LA in penalty kicks, Friday at Triton Soccer Stadium on the campus of UC San Diego. With the score even at 1-1 after two overtime periods, the Golden Eagles advanced via penalty kicks, 4-3.

The contest will officially go down as a draw for the Toros and puts their record at 12-4-3. CSULA is now 13-4-3.

The two teams went into halftime in a 0-0 stalemate. CSUDH had a 9-8 shot advantage in the first 45 minutes.

The Golden Eagles scored first in the 59th minute. Tim Klefisch's cross from the far right side sailed past Toro goalkeeper
Chase Gentry, hit the far post and went in for the goal.

CSUDH evened the score eight minutes later in the 67th minutes. The Toros were able to draw a foul inside the box and
Gilberto Rocha nailed the ensuing penalty kick. CSUDH outshot CSULA 12-5 in the second half.

The game went into a penalty kick shootout after neither team could score the golden goal in two overtime periods. CSUDH went first and slotted home the opening three PKs. The Golden Eagles would match, also making their first three. The Toros missed their fourth try as CSULA's fourth was true, forcing a must-make fifth attempt. CSUDH's fifth PK sailed high as the Golden Eagles took the decision, 4-3.

The Toros will await and see whether or not their season will continue at the NCAA Championship. The announcements will be made on Monday at 3:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.Â
