Volleyball Keeps Momentum Going with Fifth Straight Win

CARSON – The Cal State Dominguez Hills volleyball responded to a first-set loss and claimed the next three to defeat San Francisco State (24-26, 25-19, 25-16, 27-25) and run the win streak to five straight Saturday, matching the longest run since 2013.

The Toros, who have also won 6-of-7 matches, improve to 12-10 overall. But more importantly, with an 8-5 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) record, the Toros keep pace with Cal State LA in the battle for fourth place in the tough South Division with four matches remaining.

Tati Yandall got her 10th double-double of the season after coming up one short for 20 kills and digs each. Claire Autry had 13 kills and two errors on the night while Riley Kiger and Jordan Ramirez combined for 44 of the Toros 53 total assists.

Here's was the senior/freshman duo had to say about the match win:

Coming off a milestone of reaching 1,000 career digs Friday night against Sonoma State, Cathryn Lopez made 25 more saves against the Gators to quickly pass Melanie Rea (1992-95) 1,028 by one for fourth all-time.

Esther Duru and Bridget Heins combined for seven total blocks.

The Toros final road trip of the regular season will not be an easy one as they face Cal Poly Pomona Friday and first-place Cal State San Bernardino Saturday. Both are 7 p.m. starts.
