Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Garcia, Lee Lead Toros to 10th Straight Win at Cal State San Bernardino

SAN BERNARDINO — Ten seemed to be the number of choice this weekend for Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball.

The Toros improved to 10-0 in Friday night's win over No. 21 UC San Diego, and now with a 87-73 win over Cal State San Bernardino tonight, it is now the 10th straight win overall for the Toros.

CSUDH is also now 13-6 overall.

Monay Lee posted a second consecutive double-double, scoring 21 points and adding 10 rebounds. She capped off the weekend with 44 points and 21 rebounds. Breanne Garcia also highlighted the night with scoring 19 of her 24 total points in the second half. She also had seven rebounds.

Fellow senior Kielyn Wilson had nine rebounds to go along with matching her season-high three blocks for the third time this season.

Here is Garcia following the Toros win...

The Toros altogether shot 47.8 percent from the field and hit eight 3-point baskets, just one shy from the season-high mark.

Brianna Harden, Summer Ramsey and Alexcia Mack all led the effort for the Coyotes (10-6, 7-5 CCAA) with a combined 35 points. CSUSB shot 36.1 percent from the floor.

After only two lead changes at the start of the contest, the Toros ignited a 15-2 run within the final six minutes of the opening quarter to take a 21-10 lead.

The Toros never lost the lead in the second quarter but the Coyotes prevented them from making any momentum.

CSUDH went into the locker room with a 47-29 lead. Lee led all Toros with 16 points, the only one to reach double figures. Altogether the Toros shot an impressive 50 percent from the floor.

CSUSB had a 44-40 point edge on the Toros in the second half but couldn't stop Garcia from scoring the 19 points in 16 minutes of playing time.

The Cardinal and Gold return to the Torodome next weekend to welcome two Bay Area teams, San Francisco State Friday followed by a rematch with Sonoma State Saturday. Both games are at 5:30 p.m.
