Late Goal Gives Broncos a 2-2 Tie Against No. 14 Toros

POMONA -- Winners of six straight heading into this weekend's road trip, 14th-ranked Cal State Dominguez Hills settled for a 2-2 double overtime draw at Cal Poly Pomona after the Broncos tied the score with a second half tally.

Mike Dias (pictured) and Gilberto Rocha scored goals in a span of 14 minutes as CSUDH remained unbeaten in its last seven matches in moving to 6-1-1, 2-0-1 CCAA.

Just minutes into the contest in front of a packed house, CPP struck first with a score in the fourth minute for a quick 1-0 edge.

That's where the score remained until the 14th minute when the cerebral Dias connected on a header to the keeper's right to knot the score at 1-1.

Just 14 minutes late, Rocha was the right man at the right spot as he corraled a blocked shot and fired his shot over a diving Bronco defender for a 2-1 Toro lead.

Egged on by its raucous crowd, the Broncos capitalized on a cross in the 52nd minute as Christian Gonzalez Diaz connected on a header past Toro keeper Chase Gentry for the equalizer for his fifth goal of the year, where the score remained through regulation and both overtime periods.

A testy contest, three red cards were issued on the night, with two being handed to the Green and Gold, limiting the amount of players to just 19 when the final whistle blew.

It was a tale of two halves as the Toros outshot CPP 10-2 in the first period, with the Broncos returning the favor to the tune of 10-3 after the break.

Joey Chica fired off three shots with two coming on frame to lead the Toros, with Sergio Martinez taking five for the Broncos.

CSUDH continues its southern California road trip on Sunday, traveling to CS San Bernardino for a 4:30 pm first kick.
