Women's Soccer Falls to Stanislaus State to Close Book on 2015

TURLOCK -- The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team came to a heartbreaking end Saturday evening after Stanislaus State scored two goals in its 3-0 win over the Toros. Gabrielle Pena fired six of CSUDH's 11 shots in her final game in the Cardinal and Gold.

The Toros, under second-year head coach Aileen Nasypany, finish the 2015 season 4-13-1 overall, 2-9-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

CSUDH also saw the final appearance of seniors Megan Guzman and Lindsey Armstrong. Sami Feinstein sat out with a probable redshirt after suffering an injury to start the season. Guzman was the lone senior to play all 90 minutes on the pitch.

Alexia Flippen had to make six saves in between the posts while her counterpart, Chelsea Lewandowski, stopped five.

The Toros came close to getting on the board first in the fourth minute, when Katrina Cohen fired a shot from the top of the box that was brilliantly blocked by Lewandowski.

The Warriors (10-5-3, 5-4-3 CCAA), who earned a berth to the conference championship with the win, broke the ice in the 17th minute. Jordan Moineau received a pass from Maryssa McDuffy and won the one-on-one matchup with Flippen. Stanislaus State would score its second goal in the 35th minute when Demi Gonis hit a long ball to Amanda Woodhouse and took the shot inside the box.

Stanislaus State put the contest out of the Toros reach in the 69th minute. Kirsten Coleman broke away from midfield and shot from inside the box for the goal. The Warriors ran a total of 17 shots on the evening.
