4x100 Relay Lowers NCAA B Mark at Oxy Invite

Charlene Brown (L) and Sanita McNeally helped the 4x100 post a lower provisional mark at the Oxy Invite

LOS ANGELES -- Already with a number of NCAA provisional times under their collective belts, the Cal State Dominguez Hills 4x100 relay team put forth the best effort of the year at the Oxy Invite this afternoon, lowering its "B" mark by winning the relay in a time of 46.78, more than three-tenths faster than the 47.10 time set at the CCAA Championships.

The relay of Sanita McNeally, LeShaya Evans, Charlene Brown and Kiana Cannon blitzed the five-team field, beating runner-up Cal State San Marcos by over half a second in the race that also included Cal State L.A., Cal Lutheran and Redlands.

The quartet then placed third in the 4x400 relay, crossing the line in a time of 3:48.06, still under the provisional mark of 3:49:00 needed, but not faster than the provisional mark set earlier this year.

Brown also set another "B" mark in her 400 meter run in a time of 55.47 but didn't improve in that race.

The Toros should find out on Monday if their existing times are good enough to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, scheduled for May 22-24 in Allendale, Michigan.
