Toros Earn First Provisional Mark at UCSD Triton Invitational

LA JOLLA -- Good things come to those who wait and patience being a virtue both are adages that came to fruition for the Cal State Dominguez Hills track and field team today as the 4x400 relay team earned the program's first NCAA provisional qualifying time of the year as the UC San Diego-hosted Triton Invite came to a close this evening.

After missing on a provisional in at the Aztec Invite on March 29 by a second and a half, the 4x400 quartet of Sanita McNeally, Kiana Cannon, LeShaya Evans and Charlene Brown left no doubt today, finishing second to the University of Minnesota in a time 3:47.69, easily breaking the provisional time of 3:49.00 needed for a "B" mark and giving the Toros their first after a number of close calls in other events.

In achieving the mark, the Toros bested the host Tritons, Minnesota's "B" team and a pair of squads from the University of San Diego.

Brown also posted the best individual finish at the meet, placing 10th in the 400 meter dash in a time of 57.33.
