Womens Basketball in Received Votes Category for Third Week in a Row

McLEAN, Virginia -- The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team continued to receive votes in the latest USA TODAY Top 25 Coaches' poll, it was announced earlier.

This inclusion comes despite splitting a home weekend last weekend, falling in a tense 54-51 contest against Chico State after taking down Cal State Stanislaus 69-59.

The split leaves the Toros in a 3-team tie for second place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association wtih the Wildcats and Cal State L.A., with four games remaining in the regular season.

As the 13th-overall team to receive votes, CSUDH sits as the unofficial 38th ranked team in the nation, up three spots from last week's unofficial ranking.

dropping a game during last weekend's road trip and falling into a 3-way tie for second place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association standings, the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team still was among those teams that received votes in the latest USA TODAY Top 25 Coaches' Poll.

CSUDH is led by a potent 1-2-3 offensive punch in Monay Lee, Tayler Champion and Talia Rayford, who all sit amongst the league's top 20 in various offensive categories.

After posting a 10-point win against the Warriors, CSUDH let a 12-point halftime lead slip away as it was outscored by 15 in a pivotal second half of play.

The Toros have won 6 of their last 8 games, but have split their last four contests.

CCAA leader Cal Poly Pomona is the highest-ranking and lone CCAA school on the poll, dropping 3 spots to No. 17 after also splitting last weekend's CCAA contests.

The USA TODAY Sports board of coaches is made up of 33 head coaches at Division II institutions. All are members of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).

The Toros will take to the road for their final road trip, traveling to Pomona Thursday before a date with Humboldt State in Arcata on Saturday night.
