No. 8 Sonoma State Spoils Senior Day in 1-0 Win Over Toros

CARSON -- Cal State Dominguez Hills gave No. 8 Sonoma State everything it could handle, but an unassisted score by Seawolf Alex Sifuentes in the 65th minute proved the difference as SSU escaped with a 1-0 win on "Senior Day" on a warm but breezy morning in Toro Stadium.

The Toros fall to 2-12-1, 2-6 CCAA, while the Seawolves improve to 13-2, 6-2 CCAA.

SSU dominated the game from first kick, out-shooting the hosts 11-1 in the first 45 minute session, forcing Toro keeper Jennifer Ackerly to make 4 saves in the half.

The Seawolf aggressiveness finally paid dividends in the second half as Sifuentes connected on an unassisted score that just eluded Ackerly, who dove to her left.

The Toros managed two shots after the break while holding SSU to just eight, but managed just one Kristin Osuna shot on goal, which was saved by Seawolf keeper Allison Hadidian, who earned the win.

Prior to the game, CSUDH honored its five seniors in Sara DelaCruz, Jessica Parker, Alexandria Gambala, Caitlin Padian and Beatrice Giles.
