Whitney Lee Named CCAA Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK -- Senior middle Whitney Lee was named the Molten/California Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week for the week of November 11-17, it was announced by the CCAA office.

The Live Oak native led the Toros to a perfect 3-0 record last week that included a win at cross-town rival Cal State L.A. and two wins to close out the 2013 home schedule that included a 5-set marathon on Saturday's "Senior Day."

This is Lee's first-ever CCAA POW award, and the volleyball program's third following Vivian Maxie in 2004 and Lee Sterling in 1998.

Lee was magnificent in the three wins, hitting a sizzling .476 in which she blasted 44 kills in the three matches, also tallying 13 blocks, five digs and two service aces while averaging 4.2 points per set.

The senior recorded her highest match totals of the week during Toros' midweek win at Cal State L.A. as she compiled a .517 hitting percentage with 17 kills, also stuffing six balls.

In Friday's and Saturday's home victories, Lee connected for 27 kills with just three errors in 53 attempts for a hitting percentage of .453.  She was also a huge asset on defense with seven blocks in eight sets played.
