Toros Send Seniors Out in Style on Senior Day

CARSON -- Cal State Dominguez Hills sent its seniors out in style tonight in an emotional 5-set win over visiting Cal State Stanislaus, the Toros' third win in a row.

Senior Elizabeth Krieger led all players with 20 kills to lead four Toros with at least 10 kills in the 21-25, 25-21, 24-26, 25-20, 15-4 win.

After alternating wins in the first four sets to move to a decisive fifth, it was all CSUDH in the fifth as Dana Brown's serve acccounted for the first 5 points of the set.

Despite the Warriors slowing CSUDH's momemtum, the Toros continued to press CSUS with underclassmen Alijah Gunsaulus, Korryne Kelley and Jilianne Pineda serving the seniors to victory, with senior Whitney Lee, fittingly, putting the final hammer down on an assist by Brown to seal set five by a 15-4 count, and give CSUDH a 3-2 win.

Gunsaulus finished with 18 putaways as the Toros hit .302 for the match, holding CSUS to just a .191 percentage.

Lee finished with 15 and Tarryn Luafalemana 10.2.  The Toros dominated at the net to the tune of a 21 to 8 block advantage, with Luafalemana and Taryn McCulloch tallying 7 block assists each.

Prior to the match, the Toros honored seven players playing their final match in the Torodome in Abbey Prusa, Chelsea Almario, Corissa Santos, Elizabeth Krieger, Hannah Oros, Hillary Domecus and Whitney Lee.









The Toros will conclude their 2013 regular season on the road next weekend, starting at CS San Bernardino on Friday.
