Broncos Pass Test in Sweep of Toros

CARSON -- Senior Elizabeth Krieger tied for match-high honors with 12 kills, but visiting Cal Poly Pomona capitalized on eight receiving errors by Cal State Dominguez Hills as the Broncos took a 3-0 sweep over the Toros tonight in the Torodome to sweep the regular season series.

With the loss, its seventh-straight, CSUDH drops to 8-13, 1-12 CCAA.

The Broncos took charge from the opening set, only to see the Toros turn a 6-2 deficit into a 10-7 lead on a Krieger hammer.

CSUDH held the lead as far as 15-12, but the Broncos scored three-straight points to catch the Toros before out-scoring them 11-9 to take set one, 26-24.

Set two saw the visitors erase an early deficit and take a 17-12 lead, before Abbey Prusa, Tarryn Luafalemana and Krieger put away balls to tie the set at 20-20, only to have CPP go on a 5-3 run to put set two away.

After the break, CSUDH stayed close to CPP early until the Broncos took charge en route to turning a 13-13 tie into a 20-16 lead, an edge too large for CSUDH to overcome in the 25-18 loss, and the three-game sweep.

The Toros hit .198 on the night, but the Bronos trumped them with their .307 effort.

Prusa added 11 kills in the loss while Hillary Domecus and Krieger shared team-high dig honors with 11 each.

The Toros will take to the road for their next five matches, beginning next Friday at San Francisco State.
