Wildcats Make Quick Work of Toros in 3-0 Sweep

CHICO -- Host Chico State needed just one hour and 15 minutes to take a 25-11, 25-17, 25-18 decision over Cal State Dominguez Hills tonight as the Toros hit just .030 in a match that dropped them to 8-9, 1-8 CCAA.

Sophomore Alijah Gunsaulus paced CSUDH with 8 kills in the loss.

The Toros were never in the match tonight as the Wildcats stretched a 7-6 first set lead into a 13-6 advantage en route to a 25-11 win.

Set two was more of the same as an 8-7 lead became a 20-13 cushion 18 points later with a CSUC kill putting the final stamp on the 25-17 set two win.

The third set saw Chico turn a 6-5 lead become a 16-11 edge, with CSUC increasing it to 25-18 in the sweep.

Ellie Larronde led all players with 10 kills, and was the lone player to hit the double-figure mark.

As a team, the Wildcats hit .242 on the night, with 14 more digs than the Toros, 17 more set assists and six more service aces.

CSUDH will try to get back into the win column at home next weekend against perennial powers UC San Diego and CS San Bernardino, with first serve for both matches set for 7 pm in the Torodome.
