No. 24 Seawolves Halt Toros' Win Streak at Three in 3-1 Win

Box Score
CARSON -- No. 24 Sonoma State put a halt to Cal State Dominguez Hills' modest three-match win streak after a workman like 25-20, 21-25, 25-17, 25-16 win over the Toros tonight.  Elizabeth Krieger led all hitters with 17 kills, but SSU out-hit CSUDH .224 to .124 in the four-set win.

With the loss, CSUDH dips to 6-7, 4-2, while SSU improves to 10-3, 4-1 CCAA.

After an emotional sweep over cross-town rival Cal State L.A. on Wednesday, the Toros seemed unable to stretch that momentum into tonight's match against an effiicient Seawolf squad.

SSU out-hit the Toros .224 to .124, with their top four hitters all connecting at nearly .300 for the night, while posting a 10.0 to 7.5 block advantage.

After a tight opening set in which the two teams tied at 13-all, the visitors ran off 12 of the next 19 points to take the opener comfortably.

The Toros made a match of it in set two, putting away 16 balls with just four errors in the win, side-outting at a robust 72% clip.

The Seawolves, however, made the most out of a sloppy third set by both teams, hitting .036 compared to -.053 for the Toros, before dominating set four for the 3-1 win.

Elizabeth Krieger led all attackers with 17 kills on the night, while Whitney Lee contributed 13 kills, a .417 hitting percentage and a pair of solo blocks.

Caylie Seitz and Allyson Sather each pounded 12 kills for the balanced Seawolf attack.

The Toros will look to get back to their winning ways tomorrow night as San Francisco State visits the Torodome for a 7:00 pm first serve, with the match being streamed live on www.GoToros.com/live.
